Guesthouses or French style "Bed and Breakfast" :

- Stay for one or more nights as the paying guests of hosts who have specially arranged their home to create a maximum of 5 guest rooms.

- The nightly rate quoted always includes a hearty breakfast, often based on local specialities and produce. Your hostess (or host) may serve you home made jam and preserves, fresh baked country bread, home baked ‘viennoiseries’ (croissants, brioches, etc), local cheese, cooked meats and/or dairy products. A wonderful way to start the day and to get to know the local people and customs at first hand.

- Table d’hôte meals (based on either half or full-board) can feature family or gourmet cooking, depending upon the establishment serving them. .

- They literally mean the “host’s table” and are only available to people staying in the guesthouse. Guesthouses are not run like restaurants so you are advised to make it clear that you want table d’hôte meal(s) at the time of booking.

The Gîtes de France quality label is your guarantee of clearly defined levels of comfort (1, 2, 3, and 4 ‘épis’) and adherence to a national charter.

All Gîtes de France guest rooms are classified according to the architectural quality of the house and its setting, to the level of comfort of the room, its décor and facilities. Rooms are checked and if necessary reclassified every 4 years.

Whatever the classification of their guest rooms, you can be sure that your hosts will do all they can to make sure you enjoy your stay in their house.
