Cheese and other local produce

Gastronomy in the Auvergne: traditional and sophisticated cuisine

The Cantal is prized as much for its excellent food as for its wonderful landscapes and wide open spaces. Our locally produced meat and cheese, as well as locally grown vegetables, all combine to produce some very tasty dishes. Book a table on a restaurant terrace and get ready to enjoy the full flavour of Auvergne gastronomy … We can promise that you’ll want to come back for more!

Auvergne cheeses: what a wonderful selection!

The Auvergne is the only region in France to have 5 cheeses in the AOP (appellation d’origine protégée) category: Cantal, Salers, Bleu d’Auvergne, Saint Nectaire, Fourme d’Ambert. These are all Auvergne cheeses, famous for their distinctive flavours and age-old production methods. From the Monts du Cantal to the Monts du Forez, not forgetting the Massif du Sancy, Auvergne cheeses are the perfect illustration of the wide range of flavours and tastes of our local produce.
